Rooted is currently an open-source educational and environmental awareness platform. We respect visitor privacy and operate on a principle of radical data minimization. We do not use third-party tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or personal behavioral profiling technologies.
2. How Data is Handled Today
Here is an exact description of how data functions across our site today:
- The Million Seed Pledge Calculator: Any pledge registered through our interactive calculator—including your chosen steward name, sapling tier, and generated credential code—is stored exclusively in your own browser's local storage (localStorage). No pledge details, names, or credentials are transmitted to, processed by, or saved on any external database or remote server.
- The Canopy Dispatch & Contact Forms: There is currently no active remote backend or database collecting email subscriptions or contact inquiries. The forms operate strictly in demonstration mode and display clear notices that subscriptions and contact forms are not live yet. No user email submissions are transmitted to or stored on any remote server. When live dispatch services are launched in the future, all transmissions will adhere to strict TLS encryption, verified consent, and zero-monetization standards.
- Server Logs & Technical Infrastructure: When requesting pages, basic technical transmission data (such as IP address, user-agent string, and requested URI) is processed transiently by our hosting infrastructure (managed via high-speed edge CDN content distribution networks with strict HTTPS transport encryption) strictly for site security, DDoS prevention, and routing.
3. Zero Commercial Monetization
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or disclose visitor data to commercial data brokers, advertising networks, or third-party marketing entities.
4. Data Storage & Retention
Because pledge records exist solely inside your browser's local storage, you have total control over them and may delete them at any time by clearing your browser data or local storage. Server access logs are retained in accordance with standard operational policies (operational server connection logs are maintained on a rolling 30-day window solely for cybersecurity audits, volumetric DDoS mitigation, and routing integrity, after which they are automatically purged).
